Combat
As one would expect in the setting of Avatar, combat is a common occurrence. While our combat system does not use hard number or dice like some other sites, there are Stats and Skills. Stats represent physical aspects of characters, such as how physically strong they are or how how quickly they can move. Skills represents fields of knowledge a character has trained with or acquired over time, such as bending abilities or martial art knowledge. The types of skills a character can learn can be found in the 'Character Progression' section of the site.
Characters have three statistics which represent their physical abilities, these are common among all characters and are based on a scale of 1-5. These skills are as follows:
Strength (A characters raw muscle mass, physical striking force, and lifting capabilities)
- Rank 1 (Weak). Your character's physical strength is significantly below average. This is the equivalent to a young child or partially disabled individual.
- Rank 2 (Average). Your character's physical strength is considered to be that of an average adult's.
- Rank 3 (Above Average). Your character's physical strength is considered to be above average, on par with a typical soldier's.
- Rank 4 (Gifted). Your character's physical strength is far above average, on par with body builders.
- Rank 5 (Apex). Your character's physical strength is superhuman, able to lift and toss huge objects without the assistance of bending!
Speed (A character's dexterity, reaction time, ability to move quickly)
- Rank 1 (Slow). Your character's speed is significantly below average. This is the equivalent to a young child or partially disabled individual.
- Rank 2 (Average). Your character's speed is considered to be that of an average adult's.
- Rank 3 (Fast). Your character's speed is considered to be above average, on par with a typical athlete's.
- Rank 4 (Very Fast). Your character's speed is far above average, on par with only the greatest athletes.
- Rank 5 (Blur). Your character's speed has reached super human levels, able to keep pace with foe's using bending-assisted movement!
- Rank 1 (Frail). Your character's endurance is significantly below average. This is the equivalent to a young child or very elderly individual.
- Rank 2 (Average). Your character's endurance is considered to be that of an average adult's.
- Rank 3 (Hardy). Your character's endurance is considered to be above average, able to survive impacts and slashes that would kill the average man.
- Rank 4 (Sturdy). Your character's endurance is far above average, able to survive bending attacks that would be fatal to others.
- Rank 5 (Indestructible). Your character's endurance has reached super human levels, able to survive some of the most powerful bending attacks head-on, even lightning!
Experience and Progression
As characters make posts on the RP boards, they will gain 1 experience point per post automatically. Starting a new thread rewards 2 EXP instead. Additionally, all players will be rewarded +1 extra EXP for every 5 posts made in a thread they participate in (This will only be rewarded upon a thread's completion).
EXP can be spent to improve a character's Stats or skills. Improving a Stat or skill by one rank cost ten times the rank it's being improved to. Improving strength from Rank 2 to 3 for example would cost 30 EXP. However, Acquiring the first rank in a new skill would only cost 10 EXP.
At character creation only, characters will begin with 10 Ability Points. These points can be spent to improve either a Stat or Skill by 1 rank. Skill without a Rank in it represents a complete inability to use the skill. Stats are required to have 1 Rank put into them, at the minimum, no character stats can start without a rank. No one stat or skill can exceed Rank 3 during character creation.
If characters would like to purchase abilities at creation, they may do so at the rate of 1 ability point to 20 EXP. If an ability would cost 40 EXP, it would require 2 ability points to gain.
Advanced Skills. Skills that cost double EXP to acquire and rank-up, cost 2 Ability points per rank during character creation, if they are purchased then. These skills include but are not limited to: Lightning Generation, Bloodbending, and Metalbending.
If you have leftover ability points at character creation, you can request those points turn into EXP instead. You will gain EXP at the Rate of 1 Ability point to 20 EXP.
