Ability Name: Animal Handling
Required Skill: N/A
Description: Characters with an affinity for nature have the ability to form a close bond with certain animals, creating loyal companions for life. A character can take this ability up to two times, allowing for up to two animal companions who can have an effect on combat, scouting, or travel. An animal's usefulness and threat level are based on a scale of 1-4, as described in the section below. The EXP cost of this ability is determined by the threat level of the animal being purchased.
- Threat Level 1 (Relatively Harmless). A Threat Level one animal is usually small, or without natural weapons. They are not especially sturdy or strong, but usually quick and playful, making good scouts when trained properly. Animals under this category include: Winged Lemurs, koalaotters, otter penguins, and Turtle Ducks. 10 EXP to tame.
- Threat Level 2 (Potentially Dangerous). A Threat Level two animal has the potential to harm humans through sheer force, or natural weaponry. These types of animals are usually used as mounts, being of medium size, and are very loyal to their masters. Animals under this category include: Arctic Camels, Catgators, and Saber-toothed Moose-lions. 20 EXP to tame.
- Threat Level 3 (Dangerous). A Threat Level three animal is quite dangerous when paired up against the average human in combat. They can usually take one entire groups of people single-handedly before falling in battle. Many are used as war-mounts. Animals under this category include: Platypus Bears, Eel Hounds, Polar Bear Dogs, and Elephant Mandrills. 30 EXP to tame.
- Threat Level 4 (Very Dangerous). A Threat Level four animal is born with a unique power or ability that sets them aside from the rest of the animal kingdom. They can usually take on entire groups of weaker benders single-handedly. Animals under this category include: Dragons, Sky Bison, Badgermoles, and Serpents. 40 EXP to tame.
